Thank you for writing to me about child care. I am proud to be part of a government that has committed to improving access to child care in our community, our city, and our province.
As you know, child care, whether after-school care or child care for infants and toddlers, is very scarce in our community. Wait lists are the norm, and many parents are left in the lurch.
My colleague Katrina Chen, the Parliamentary Secretary for Child Care, the first in BC’s history, is busy working with experts in the field to begin the hard work of implementing this significant new program in our province.
As the father of an energetic three year old, I know that affordable, safe child care is a priority for families in our community. Our government has prioritized implementation of this program, and we are working on the details right now.
Please continue to advocate on this important issue that affects so many – your efforts help ensure that people in BC continue to understand why our government has prioritized this critical work.
