About Arbutus Corridor

At the end of May 2014, CP Rail issued a notice to residents living along the Arbutus Corridor section of the Canadian Pacific Railway line stating that their community gardens would be slated for demolition as soon as July 31st, 2014.

As many residents of Vancouver-Point Grey have worked tirelessly to maintain these gardens located along the corridor, our community office received a number of concerns and varying opinions on the issue. While the issue of Arbutus Corridor lies primarily between the Federal and Municipal governments, MLA David Eby made an inquiry on the community’s behalf to CP Rail CEO Hunter Harrison.

A copy of David’s letter and response from CP Rail are below, and you can read more about this exchange in the July 25 2014 edition of the Vancouver Courier, “Letter from CP train company calls Arbutus Corridor gardeners ‘trespassers’“.
