Housing critic David Eby applauds new regulations

NDP housing critic David Eby says he’s applauding the federal government for closing the loophole on foreign investors ducking paying capital gains taxes on Canadian home sales.

Eby is also thanking them for ignoring their counterparts in the provincial government.

“We saw the Premier say that she was skeptical about $57 million worth of properties bought by students… on the west side of Vancouver, we saw the Advanced Education Minister come out and say that it was a witch hunt.”

Eby was referring to comments made to CKNW last week by Advanced Education Minister, Andrew Wilkinson, who accused Eby of being on a witch hunt when he released land titles showing students and housewives owning millions of dollars worth of property in Vancouver.
