NDP housing critic David Eby, whose in-depth criticism of government inaction on the housing file has had the Liberals on the ropes for months, said he thinks voters will see through the tax.

“I have trouble imagining the premier has improved her image on this single issue, given how long government spent in denial on the issue,” he said.

“But the B.C. Liberals are spending a fairly significant amount of advertising already in the run-up to the election, and they are likely seeing the results of that.” Eby said the Liberals are able to finance the influential advertising using money raised from big donors in the real estate sector.
