I know that many constituents were upset and unhappy about our government’s difficult decision to continue with the Site C dam project. The Premier, and the entire caucus wrestled with this difficult decision about the best approach to a project that has already spent $2bn in public money as the previous administration did everything possible to push the project past the “point of no return”.
I thank everyone who wrote in to me to express your thoughts and concerns, and I assure you that I brought these opinions to Victoria to share them with colleagues as we discussed this issue.
I am available to meet with constituents to discuss this further, and have met with many people already. In the coming weeks and months, we will be announcing various initiatives to make the best of this terrible situation of a massive public infrastructure investment without any apparent customer for the electricity it will produce. In the meantime, thank you for being involved in the public discussion of this important issue for our government.
