Another awesome year of UBC FarmAde! Visit our mobile office at the open-air festival from 3-6pm at UBC Farm. Live music, vegan-friendly BBQ, farm-fresh corn and locally brewed beer will keep the festivities going until 8pm.

Look out for our booth, come say Hi, and check out the awesome new community centre at Webber Lane in Wesbrook Village.

Dog Day! @ Locarno Beach Park Dog Off-Leash Area

Fun for furry and furless friends alike, Dog Day will take place at Jericho Beach Off-Leash Park from 11 am-1 pm on Sunday, September 20th.

Come check out our goofy photo booth, learn about the petition to save animals in distress, and talk to fellow animal lovers and dog owners.

Music at the Mill @ Old Hastings Mill Store Museum

Join the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum for another round of singalong sea shanties with the Lazy Jacks!  Tunes are easy to learn and your participation is most heartily encouraged!  September 20, 1 – 2 p.m. on the main floor, followed by old time fiddle music upstairs with Doug the Fiddler and ensemble, 2 – 4 p.m.  Bring along whatever instrument you play and have a go! Entry by donation.

On Tuesday, September 22, local author Doris Gregory will read excerpts from her recently published book, “How I Won the War for the Allies” at Book Warehouse, 4118 Main St at 7pm. She’ll also share with you her adventures in writing the book, finding a publisher and marketing.

Those attending can expect a lively discussion. Light refreshments will be served.

The Annual General Meeting of the University Neighbourhoods Association is open to all UNA Members and residents of Hampton Place, Hawthorn Place, Chancellor Place, East Campus, and Wesbrook Place.

David will be doing a presentation on “Five easy, secret tricks to convince a friend to volunteer”. If you live in the area, the UNA AGM is an event not to be missed!

As part of this year’s Culture Days offerings, the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum presents a look at Chinook Jargon, the early trade language developed to bridge language barriers between First Nations and settlers of diverse racial backgrounds.

Try your hand at their Chinook matching game to earn lumber, fish and “gold nuggets”!  Free entry during Culture Days, September 26 – 27th, 1 – 4 p.m. (donations always welcome!)  Watch for details on future Chinook Jargon workshops at the mill!

Across Canada, October 1st is National Seniors Day; and nowhere across this country will you find more vibrant, engaged and connected seniors than right here on the Westside of Vancouver. The Westside Seniors Hub and Kits House is celebrating the amazing contributions and lives of all seniors on October 1st from 2 pm to 6 pm and all Westside residents are invited! If you are a senior, you know a senior or you appreciate seniors come celebrate. The day will feature:
