To take action to help people out of poverty, the BC government is seeking to give better access to employment opportunities for people facing complex barriers. The Community-based Employment Services (CBES) will help people who are struggling with issues such as unstable housing, health, and substance use to gain stability and confidence to take steps towards a job. Supported by the Canada-B.C. Labour Market Development Agreement, the Province is investing nearly $4 million into CBES for the next 3 years. Alongside CBES, WorkBC centres will continue to provide a variety of employment services as part of the government’s efforts to achieve the goals of British Columbia’s 2024 Poverty Reduction Strategy.
