As a part of the Province’s efforts to make child care more affordable, inclusive, and culturally safe, the Early Learning and Child Care act will be established. This will replace and build onto the existing Childcare BC Act and Childcare Subsidy Act. The act will expand the purpose a child care grant could be paid. For example, establishing a childcare facility, improving the inclusivity of child care for children with support needs, and facilitating the design and delivery of Indigenous child care programs. Since 2018 with the introduction of the government’s ChildCareBC Plan, B.C. has worked to construct a future where families can rely on affordable, quality and inclusive child care.
